Youngster joins Stenhousemuir

Motherwell have allowed young winger Darren Smith to join Stenhousemuir on an emergency loan deal until 13th March. The 21-year-old has been hampered by injury this season and manager Craig Brown has sanctioned his loan to the the Scottish Second Division side to boost his sharpness. Smith is keen to return to full fitness and sees the loan move as the ideal opportunity to get back into the swing of the things after the reserve league was scrapped.

Opportunity

"It's a great opportunity for me to get games and get my fitness and sharpness back," he told Motherwell's official website. "With no reserve league it has meant I've not had much of a chance to get myself back after the injury lay-off. "I'll go to Stenny and try my hardest for the team whilst I am there and hopefully, come mid-March, I'll be back fitter and stronger to give the gaffer another option in the remaining months of the season."
