Sergio Floccari's agent Renzo Contratto insists the striker has signed for Lazio although the club will not make an announcement until Tuesday.
The former Genoa ace has joined the Biancocelesti on loan for six months with a view to a permanent move thought to be in the region of £9.5million.
The 28-year-old was a relatively late developer and only made his top-flight debut in 2006 while playing with Messina.
While never prolific during further stints with Atalanta and then Genoa, for whom he signed last summer, Floccari has seemingly done enough to impress Lazio.
"Sergio has signed for Lazio," Contratto told calciomercato.it. "Every difficulty was overcome."
However Lazio president Claudio Lotito preferred not to confirm the capture until after all the paperwork had been finalised.
"The contracts are valid only when they are deposited," he told Ansa.
Many suspect the arrival of Floccari will spell the end of Julio Cruz's time at Stadio Olimpico but the frontman's agent insists otherwise.
"There isn't any case," Jorge Cysterpiller told calciomercato.it. "Cruz has recovered from backache and has a contract at Lazio and doesn't want to leave Rome,"
Meanwhile defender Aleksandr Kolarov looks set to stay with Lazio despite recently being strongly linked with a move to champions Inter.
"I never spoke with Inter," Lotito stated. "And there are no ongoing negotiations. The reason is simple: Kolarov is not for sale."
