City boss happy with victory

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini was pleased to seal a 1-0 win at Middlesbrough in their FA Cup third round clash. City moved into the fourth round courtesy of the win at the Riverside Stadium and Mancini was pleased with the success. The win came thanks to Benjani's first-half strike and he was happy with how the Zimbabwean did on his return to the City side. "Benjani is a good player, and we brought him in three days ago and today he played well and scored and that is important," said Mancini. "I am very happy with the win, for the players and the supporters. "It is an important competition, Middlesbrough played well and after we scored, we played well."

Injuries

Mancini fielded a below strength side with the likes of Gareth Barry, Carlos Tevez and Craig Bellamy on the bench - but he insisted he was forced into the changes. "We have a big problem in this moment as we have many players injured and I think some players will always want to play," he said. "I hope many of them will be back for the Carling Cup." The match also saw a debut handed to 18-year-old Belgian Dedryck Boyata - who performed well in central defence. "We have many defenders injured and he is a good young defender and he has a good future," he said.
Cordoba
Mancini was also coy over speculation linking City with a move for Inter Milan defender Ivan Cordoba. "Today is important we talk about this game and then look to United, rather than talk about a transfer." When asked if somebody could be signed before Wednesday, he said: "Possibly."
