Defender steps up recovery after Achilles problem

Leeds defender Rui Marques has edged closer to a return to first-team contention after coming through 90 minutes for the reserves unscathed. The Angola international, 32, has been sidelined since the end of August due to an Achilles injury and has made only six appearances for Leeds this season. But Marques showed no ill-effects after featuring in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Middlesbrough which Leeds lost 4-3. South African striker Davide Somma, who has made only one first-team appearance as a substitute in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Darlington since arriving in October, hit two of Leeds' goals. Argentinian trialist Walter Garcia also featured alongside first-team fringe players David Prutton, Andy Robinson, Paul Huntington and Alan Sheehan.
