Serbian's suspension to begin with trip to AZ

Feyenoord midfielder Stefan Babovic has had his four-match suspension for his red card against Ajax reduced to three games by the Dutch Football Association (KNVB). The Serbian was dismissed in last Sunday's heavy Eredivisie defeat at Ajax after elbowing opposing defender Jan Vertonghen in the later stages of the first half. Babovic claimed the clash was accidental, but KNVB still viewed the offence worthy of an automatic four-game suspension. The 22-year-old therefore opted to appeal against the punishment and has seen his ban reduced to three matches. Babovic's suspension will begin when fourth-placed Feyenoord travel to defending champions AZ Alkmaar, who sit seventh, on Sunday. The former Nantes ace has until Friday evening to appeal against his three-game ban.
