Marotta determined to keep Pazzini and Cassano

Sampdoria sporting director Giuseppe Marotta has insisted that Giampaolo Pazzini and Antonio Cassano will be staying with the club.

Both players have been linked with moves away from Samp after impressive seasons in 2008/9.

Pazzini only joined Samp in January but scored 11 goals in 18 appearances, while fellow forward Cassano also impressed.

However, Marotta told Sky Italia: "Pazzini and Cassano? They won't move from Sampdoria."

Sampdoria only finished 13th in Serie A last term and are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.

They have made a winger their top priority and have set their sights on Franco Semioli of Fiorentina.

"We need a winger and we have chosen Semioli," said Marotta.

"We will meet in the next few days with (Fiorentina director of football) Pantaleo Corvino and we hope to come to an agreement."
