Defender happy with wages on offer at the Stadium of Light

Sedan defender Paul Baysse claims he is close to joining Sunderland after rejecting offers from West Ham and Blackburn.

Baysse has been heavily linked with a move to the Black Cats throughout the summer and is understood to have met manager Steve Bruce last week.

He has also attracted interest from Sunderland's Premier League rivals West Ham and Blackburn, but has opted for a move to the Stadium of Light.

The 21-year-old has suggested he is tempted by the chance to link up with Bruce's squad after the Black Cats offered more than other clubs.
