McNeil continues to be linked with move

Accrington Stanley are closing in on a deal to bring an unnamed League One striker to the club. Assistant manager Jimmy Bell revealed last week that the move had fallen through for the mystery forward, with Stockport County's Matt McNeil linked with a switch. However, Stanley boss John Coleman has now told skysports.com that the transfer could still go through. "I think we are going to sort out a loan deal for a striker this week and hopefully that will be completed in time for next week, but we've just got to keep our fingers crossed that it goes through," said Coleman. "It is a striker from a League One club, but I don't really want to reveal his identity till everything is finalised." As one striker seems to be coming in, another remains available to depart the League Two outfit, as long-serving target man Paul Mullin is on the transfer list, but Coleman revealed that no enquiries have been made for the 35-year-old. Coleman added: "It's purely financial reasons why Paul has been made available because he has been a great servant to us and still is. "We haven't received any enquiries for him yet and at the moment he will continue to be a key player for us, as he has been for a number of years."
