Falkirk and Hibs compete for striker's signature

Falkirk target Steve Lovell has returned to Scotland to consider his options, opening the door for Hibernian to swoop for his services. The 27-year-old striker was released by Aberdeen at the end of last season and recently ended a trial period with Falkirk. Bairns manager John Hughes is hopeful Lovell will join the club this summer after he impressed during his time with the club in Holland. "Steve had a great three days with us, getting to know the squad and it was a good opportunity for us to assess him at close quarters," Hughes told the club's official website.

"Steve would be a great addition to the squad and he has gone home to weigh up his options." However, Falkirk appear to face competition from SPL rivals Hibernian after boss Mixu Paatelainen hinted at his interest in Lovell. Paatelainen said in the Daily Record: "There's progress but we'll keep it under wraps for now." Meanwhile, Hibernian are hopeful of landing Moroccan goalkeeper Khalid Sinouh. Paatelainen added: "It's still on-going with Khalid."
