Jackson played key role in midfielder's decision

Stefan Oakes is targeting promotion after signing a two-year contract at Lincoln City. The midfielder turned down a new deal at Wycombe Wanderers earlier this month and accepted a move to Sincil Bank. He had spent three seasons with Wycombe, but is looking forward to a fresh start at League Two rivals Lincoln. Oakes, 29, admits Red Imps manager Peter Jackson was a major factor in his decision to agree the deal.

Excited

"The gaffer sold the club to me," Oakes told the club's official website. "He was like a dog with a bone and he was non-stop. "But it was nice to feel wanted and the move certainly feels right for me. "The gaffer's really excited about the season that lies ahead and I'm sure everyone else will be looking forward to it. "For me, it's a fresh start and, as the gaffer says, it's all about getting promotion."
