Leeds defender commits to Elland Road

Leeds United have been boosted ahead of their League One play-off final by the news that Rui Marques has signed a new contract with the club. The popular Angola international's future had been up in the air with the summer rapidly approaching, after contract talks stalled and were postponed until the close-season. With the club and the player's representatives some distance away valuation wise, it was deemed better to put talks on hold in order for the defender to focus on his football. It had been mooted Championship sides were casting their eye over the former Hertha Berlin defender, but he has now penned a fresh two-year contract at Elland Road. Although Marques has found himself on Gary McAllister's bench of late he could well feature in this Sunday's crunch play-off final clash with Doncaster at Wembley. Catch all the action from the capital this Sunday when Leeds go head-to-head with Yorkshire rivals Doncaster, live on Sky Sports 2.
