Defender might stay until end of the season

Crewe have provisionally agreed to extend Everton defender Patrick Boyle's loan until the end of the season. The 20-year-old left-back, who is out of contract at Goodison Park in the summer, joined the League One side in January. And after impressing as he deputises for the injured Billy Jones, Crewe are keen to extend Boyle's stay at The Alexandra Stadium. "We have agreed provisionally with Patrick to extend his loan deal. Patrick wants to stay here. I know he has enjoyed it here and it has been good for him and for us," first-team coach Steve Holland told the club's official website.

Hopeful

"He is set to discuss his future at Everton with David (Moyes) and the long-term implications there and until that conversation takes place then we will have to wait. I'm hopeful it will be concluded but it is not a foregone conclusion. "Patrick has been steady for us and has settled in well. It is always nice to have a left-sided player in the team and we hope that he can stay until the end of the season."
