Shrewsbury boss Gary Peters has reduced his squad significantly by allowing three players to leave the Shropshire club.

Gary's squad is petering out Shrewsbury boss Gary Peters has reduced his squad significantly by allowing three players to leave the Shropshire club. Michael Symes, Neil Ashton and Danny Hall have all parted from the New Meadow to leave the Shrews' training ground looking short of bodies. Symes and Ashton have joined League Two rivals Macclesfield on loan until the end of the season, and Hall has moved north of the border to team up with Gretna on a permanent deal. Peters felt the time was right to let Hall move on as he looks to freshen up his squad.

Downfall

"We had an offer for Danny to go to Gretna and we feel that it's probably time to change a few things around," Peters told the club's official website. "We want to make space by letting a few players who haven't played very much lately go out. "Danny is a lad who can play in a number of positions and sometimes that has been his downfall in so far as he can always be moved but hasn't got a regular position." Symes and Ashton take Macclesfield's loan count to four - only two weeks into the January transfer window. They join Sheffield United's Ryan Cresswell and Chester's Sean Hessey on loan until the end of the season.
