William Gallas is set to be sidelined for two to three weeks after suffering a groin injury in the 1-1 draw with Blackburn.
The Arsenal captain fell awkwardly moments after Robin van Persie had fired The Gunners ahead in the first half.
He came to the touchline for treatment but could not return to the pitch and Arsene Wenger brought on Philippe Senderos in his place.
Gallas is now expected to miss Arsenal's next two Premier League matches against Manchester City and Portsmouth, as well as the UEFA Champions League qualifier with Sparta Prague.
The defender will also play no part in France's friendly against Slovakia on Wednesday, and could be doubtful for the Euro 2008 qualifiers with Italy and Scotland early next month.
