Hull City defender Joe Dudgeon has expressed his delight after joining League One Barnsley on a month's loan deal.

The 23-year-old left-back missed most of last season with a persistent knee injury but has returned to action during the Tigers' pre-season programme and could play up to six times during his month with the Tykes. "I'm delighted that I have been given this opportunity," he told the club's official website. "As soon as I was told about the interest, it was good to get down here and get involved. It's good to know that people wanted me and it was a chance I could not turn down. "With the month's loan, I'll hopefully get five or six games in which will be great for my legs and hopefully I'll be able to bring something to the squad." Dudgeon's arrival at Oakwell comes just hours after fellow defender Tom Kennedy left by mutual consent.
