Morecambe v Accrington preview

Team news ahead of Boxing Day's League Two clash between Morecambe and Accrington Stanley at the Globe Arena.

Morecambe should have Laurence Wilson back in the fold. Wilson missed last week's thumping 3-0 defeat at the hands of promotion-chasing Swindon after injuring both of his feet against Oxford the week before. However, he may well be back in contention as the Shrimps desperately seek to end their five-match winless run in League Two. Garry Hunter returned against the Robins following an unspecified injury, coming off the bench with 11 minutes remaining. He is pushing for a start, although fellow strikers Phil Jevons and Jason Price seem better placed to get the nod. The Shrimps enjoyed a rampant start to the season, but have tailed off in recent weeks and now find themselves 11th in the table. Accrington will be without Luke Joyce. Joyce picked up a straight red card in the 78th minute of last week's impressive 3-1 victory over promotion-chasing Torquay. He will, therefore, serve a three-match suspension after the club this week opted not to appeal due to a lack of video evidence. Joyce's fellow midfielder Ian Craney is targeting an ahead-of-schedule comeback following time on the sidelines with a broken leg, although the games against Hereford and Macclesfield either side of new year may be more realistic targets. Defender Sean Hessey missed the Torquay win as he served a suspension for picking up five yellow cards, but is expected to return to boss John Coleman's plans. Alan Burton remains out of action as he continues his recovery from a double hernia operation earlier this month.
