Late winner for Montpellier

A goal four minutes into injury time by Siaka Tiene guided Montpellier to their first victory of the Ligue 1 season as they edged out Sochaux 2-1. Roy Contout had put Sochaux ahead on the brink of half-time before Hilton responded immediately to ensure the teams went into the break on level terms. Cedric Kante was sent off for the visitors with 17 minutes remaining, but it appeared Sochaux had done enough to earn a point before Tiene's late intervention. Sochaux were first to show as an attacking force with Cedric Bakambu's fierce shot deflected away by home goalkeeper Laurent Pionnier. Tiene responded for Montpellier, his free-kick forcing Simon Pouplin to go down to make a save. The half ticked down and Pouplin blocked Djamel Bakar's right-footed shot only for Sochaux to take the lead a minute before half time. Sebastian Roudet's free-kick found Contout close to goal and he slotted the ball home. However, Sochaux's joy was shortlived as seconds later Montpellier equalised, Jonas Martin found Hilton and he despatched a rocket shot from 25 yards which beat the keeper, who stood no chance. Montpellier enjoyed the better of the second half. Bakar controlled the ball and shot wide from close range before Tiene's shot from 20 yards went just inches the wrong side of the post. Sochaux were then reduced to 10 men when Kante was sent off for tackling Remy Cabella from behind. However, it seemed that Sochaux had claimed only their second point of the season only for Mathieu Peybernes to clear the ball only as far as Tiene and he gratefully accepted the gift to slot home from close range.
