Stuttgart turned the tables on Borussia Monchengladbach with a 2-1 victory at the Borussia Park Stadion.

Stuttgart turned the tables on Borussia Monchengladbach as victory at the Borussia Park Stadion made amends for last weekend's defeat to Hannover, in which the Reds threw away a two-goal lead. Former Stuttgart defender Martin Stranzl put the hosts in front in the seventh minute, but Martin Harnik levelled instantly for Bruno Labbadia's men. An own goal from Roel Brouwers in the 72nd minute gave Stuttgart a deserved lead, which they held on to this time. Stuttgart lost their last clash with Europa League opponents a week ago when they threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 4-2 at home to Hannover. And it looked like it was going to be another disappointing afternoon when Stranzl put the Foals in front, ghosting in unmarked to stroke the ball in after Serdar Tasci inadvertently headed a cross into his opponent's path. Gladbach's fans were still celebrating when Harnik brought the visitors level with a header from Christian Molinaro's cross after the Italian's committed run forward was rewarded. It was back to square one, then, for Lucien Favre's side and they appeared to suffer a little from conceding so quickly and it took them a while to regroup. Stuttgart, on the other hand, expressed more confidence in their game and repeatedly put their hosts under pressure, with Christian Gentner unlucky not to put them in front in the 48th minute. His first shot was saved by Marc-Andre ter Stegen, before his follow-up header was cleared off the goal line by Brouwers. Brouwers was not so lucky in the 72nd minute when he diverted Zdravko Kuzmanovic's effort off the underside of the crossbar and in, giving Ter Stegen no chance and giving Stuttgart all three points.
