Yeovil will be looking to cause another Carling Cup upset when they head to Middlesbrough.

Glovers hoping to build on Addicks shock

Yeovil will be looking to cause another Carling Cup upset when they head to Middlesbrough on Tuesday. Boro slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Liverpool on Saturday, but showed enough to suggest they should make light work of their League One opponents in the cup. The Glovers, though, saw off Championship outfit Charlton in the first round and should not be taken lightly.

      Turnbull to continue

Middlesbrough keeper Ross Turnbull will retain his place after getting a late call at the weekend when Brad Jones dislocated his finger during the warm-up at Anfield. In addition, summer signings Didier Digard and Marvin Emnes could come into consideration after only being named among the substitutes to date. Defenders David Wheater and Andrew Taylor both picked up minor knocks at Liverpool, but Southgate will hope to have the duo at his disposal. He said: "I do not need to rest anybody, but I do need to make sure that the players who have not been playing up to now get the chance to improve their match fitness. "There will be changes - we already know we will be without Brad Jones because of the injury he got prior to the start at Liverpool. "But Ross Turnbull would have played anyway in the Carling Cup, regardless of any injuries, so he will be in the side again. "He has a very good game at Anfield, and that will do his confidence the world of good."
      Injury crisis
Yeovil's chances could be hindered by the fact they are suffering an injury crisis ahead of their trip to the Riverside. Aidan Downes will be out for several weeks after damaging medial knee ligaments in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Leeds, while fellow winger Danny Schofield suffered severe bruising to his shin during the same game, and will also miss out. Defensive duo Nathan Smith (groin) and Aaron Brown (ankle) are rated doubtful, while midfielder Darren Way will be monitored closely following his recent back and hamstring problems. With on-loan Portsmouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic also unavailable because his parent club do not want him cup-tied, the Glovers may be down to just 13 players, and could name 45-year-old assistant manager Steve Thompson on the bench. However, Marc Bircham should recover from a hamstring injury to take his place in the side.
