Ligue 1 top-scorer Alexandre Lacazette continued his superb form for Lyon, who took top spot in the table with a 2-0 win over Evian.

Lacazette, who claimed the club's scoring record last time out against Reims, made it 27 goals for the season with a 38th-minute penalty after Clement Grenier had given Lyon the lead.

Lyon are top of Ligue 1 only thanks to a better goal difference to Paris St Germain, who play Nantes late on Sunday, though Hubert Fournier's side had played down title ambitions before things kicked of at the Stade Municipal de Gerland.

But it was a different picture on the pitch, with Grenier leading the charge early on, a sixth-minute free-kick that went inches wide of the Evian goal.

Evian were not about to roll over though, as Adrien Thomasson tried his luck from the angle of the penalty area which needed a full-stretch save from Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes.

Grenier had other ideas, as Lyon engineered a team effort on goal, taken eventually by Clinton Njie, whose overhead kick caused trouble for Benjamin Leroy in the Evian goal.

And the breakthrough came soon enough as Grenier found the perfect curling free-kick on 20 minutes, which went over the wall and into the top corner.

Njie had another chance to score when played in by Lacazette, but his 25-yard effort produced another good save from Leroy, though Evian did not help themselves ahead of half-time when Dany Nounkeu fouled Corentin Tolisso in the box.

Lacazette had little trouble getting his goal, leaving Leroy motionless with his eighth successful penalty of the season.

Evian came out a bit stronger in the second half as substitute Alioune Fall fired inches over the bar, before Clarck Nsikulu somehow managed to miss his volley from six yards out.

It woke Lyon up and Nabil Fekir nearly made it 3-0 on 74 minutes with a free-kick from distance that smashed against the post, while Lopes did well to keep out Nicolas Blandi at the other end and maintain the clean sheet.

Despite the win, it was not to be Fekir's night in front of goal as his stoppage-time shot was kept out by Evian's Cedric Cambon after Leroy had looked beaten.
