Lorient answered coach Christian Gourcuff's complaints about conceding late goals by scoring two early to set up a comfortable 4-0 win over Brest. Lorient have seen their hopes of European football fade thanks to late defeats, but made sure there would be no such problems with goals from Julien Quercia and Yann Jouffre in the opening seven minutes before further strikes from Wesley Lautoa and Gilles Sunu. Lorient wasted no time in seizing the initiative as Quercia got the opening goal just two minutes into the match, following up after Alexis Thebaux could only parry Benjamin Corgnet's shot and scoring into an open goal. The second came in similar circumstances. Five minutes later, Quercia took possession after a slip from Florian Lejeune and he played in Kevin Monnet-Paquet on the edge of the area. His shot from 20 yards was parried by Thebaux and Jouffre made him pay for not holding on. Brest's only opening of the first half came in the 16th minute when Magaye Gueye snatched possession from Ecuele Manga and found Mario Licka, but his excellent left-footed shot was punched clear by Fabien Audard. Lorient effectively settled the contest when they added a third goal seven minutes before the break, Lautoa firing home when Brest could only clear Jouffre's corner as far as the spot where he stood on the edge of the area. Quercia was inches away from adding a fourth five minutes into the second half after cutting in off the left wing, while at the other end Ousmane Coulibaly watched a shot whistle past the post after coming in from the right. But Sunu capped the comfortable home win 10 minutes from time, latching on to Mathias Autret's pass and beating Thebaux.
