Hume opener cancelled out after break

Matt Jarvis grabbed a second-half equaliser but Wolves were unable to press home their superiority against dogged Leicester. The Foxes took an early lead through Iain Hume's superb curling free-kick, but Jarvis levelled things in the 73rd minute as Wolves improved after the break. Wolves thought they had snatched the points when they had the ball in the back of the net again with 10 minutes to go but Neill Collins saw his effort ruled out for offside. Hume handed the Foxes a dream start with a stunning free-kick which curled and fizzed into the right side of helpless Wayne Hennessey's goal, although questions must be asked of the Wolves wall.

Tested

The goal gave Leicester the confidence to move forward and they tested the Wanderers defence again eight minutes later, but this time Matt Fryatt's effort produced a comfortable save from the Wales international. And Hennessey was called upon again in the 18th minute when Collins John was released and went darting into the box, only to have the ball smothered bravely at his feet. Wolves battled to grab a foothold on the match and caused problems from Jay Bothroyd's outswinging corner moments later. Darren Ward eventually got a shot away but Fryatt was on hand to make a timely block. Gareth McAuley sent a header wide for the visitors, before Wolves began to turn up the pressure. First Bothroyd saw a long-range effort float narrowly wide, before Darron Gibson sent a shot from just outside the penalty area over the bar. Five minutes after the restart, John fluffed his second significant chance. The striker was played through by an incisive ball from Stephen Clemence, but one-on-one with Hennessey, he hit across goal and into the arms of the goalkeeper.
Surging
The home support, who had voiced their dissatisfaction with Wanderers' first-half display, could surely not feel the same about the second, with Mick McCarthy's men repeatedly surging into their opponent's half. They went close when Freddy Eastwood's angled drive was gathered instinctively by Foxes' stopper Marton Fulop, and continued to press as Leicester battled to hang on. Wolves then brought on Andy Keogh for Gibson and the substitute had an immediate effect in setting up Jarvis for the leveller, his first goal for the club. The Irishman raced into the penalty area, showing tremendous skill to edge past Bruno N'Gotty, before squaring to Jarvis who side-footed home with a simple finish. Wolves now looked like the team in command and set about earning a winner. They thought they had done so when Keogh crossed to Collins who struck the ball home, but Bothroyd - who was involved in the move - was caught narrowly offside. Keogh proved a massive threat to the Leicester back-line and he almost snatched it in injury time but dragged his shot from just outside the area, and Fulop was able to gather.
