Cannavaro: Invaluable experience
A point against Werder Bremen would be enough to secure Real Madrid's place in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, however their away form this campaign leaves a lot to be desired.
Madrid's imperfections in La Liga have all come away from home his season, while a trip to Germany does little to fill fans with confidence - with only one win in 21 visits.
Werder Bremen, meanwhile, will be eager to transfer their impressive domestic form into Europe, as they currently sit bottom of Group C.
Thomas Schaaf's men, who lost to Real 2-1 on matchday one, have picked up seven victories in their previous nine Bundesliga matches.
Diego
The home side are without playmaker Diego, who is suspended after his sending off in the 2-1 loss to Lazio.
Daniel Jensen is in line to replace the Brazilian midfielder and goalkeeper Tim Wiese is sidelined with a leg injury, but Boubacar Sanogo returns.
Real manager Bernd Schuster has several absentees, with Gabriel Heinze (knee), Wesley Sneijder (knee), Royston Drenthe and Roberto Soldado (both flu) all unavailable.
However, the irreplaceable Fabio Cannavaro is fit and poised to make his 50th Champions League appearance.
