Norwich boss Glenn Roeder hailed his side's 2-0 win over Norwich as the "perfect day" as he celebrated his first win charge.

Canaries boss chuffed with win, while Dowie bemoans finishing

Norwich boss Glenn Roeder hailed his side's 2-0 win over Norwich as the "perfect day" as he celebrated his first win charge. Goals from Luke Chadwick and Jamie Cureton in either half secured a morale-boosting first league win since 15th September for basement boys Norwich. "This means everything", said Roeder. "I said before the game that it didn't matter how we played as long as we took the three points. "Well, we have won by playing some excellent football and as far as I'm concerned it has been a perfect day.

Habit

"We had got into the habit of not winning games and that simply had to change. Now we have done that hopefully we can move on from here. "I've just come out of the dressing room and it is a very happy place. Nobody seems to want to leave, which is excellent. It just shows how much this win means to everyone at the club." On-loan Newcastle winger Matty Pattison had a hand in both goals and Roeder was delighted with the player's debut. "I am pleased with all the players, everyone played their part today", added Roeder. "We passed the ball really well and that's exactly what I want to see from my team. If Norwich were a long-ball team you wouldn't have seen me here in the first place. "I was very pleased with Matty and not surprised. I saw a lot of him when I was with the academy at Newcastle, and also when I was manager, so I know what the boy can do. He's got a lot of quality about him and we're delighted to have him on loan. "I was also pleased to see him come through the 90 minutes, because it can't have been easy having played just reserve team football this season. "Everyone did well, I could go on and on about all of them."
Frustrating
Coventry manager Iain Dowie felt his side were unlucky not to take anything from their trip to Carrow Road. "We had a lot of the ball, especially in the second half but we just didn't show enough in the final third," noted Dowie. "Norwich had one attack in the second half and scored from it. We had most of the play but didn't make any use of it, which was very frustrating. "I am very angry because we keep giving away silly goals, it's been our Achilles heel for some time now. We should have dealt with both situations. We didn't and got punished for it."
