Howard suspended for Blades; Plymouth set to make changes

Sheffield United will be without Brian Howard for Saturday's home clash against fellow play-off hopefuls Plymouth. The on-loan midfielder, who is expected to make a permanent move from Barnsley in January, must serve a one-match ban after accumulating five yellow cards. Gary Speed could come in after missing the last two games with a calf strain, although Nick Montgomery and Greg Halford are alternative options. Matt Kilgallon is available again following his three-game ban but manager Kevin Blackwell is not expected to split up his central-defensive partnership of Chris Morgan and Ugo Ehiogu. Full-back Sun Jihai will continue in place of Gary Naysmith, who is still nursing a groin problem.

Return trip

Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock takes his side to Sheffield for the second time in five days after Argyle won 1-0 at his former club Sheffield Wednesday in midweek. That put the Pilgrims in ninth place, just one point behind the hosts in sixth. Plymouth picked up a couple of knocks at Hillsborough and Sturrock believes the long journey has left some of his players feeling tired. Winger Jamie Mackie and central midfielder Yoann Folly could come into contention after missing Tuesday's win with flu, while right-back Mat Doumbe (foot) and striker Emile Mpenza (knee) may also return.
