McVeigh deepens Foxes' gloom

Resurgent Norwich won their fifth game in succession after beating Leicester 1-0 at The Walkers Stadium courtesy of Paul McVeigh's matchwinner midway through the second half.

The result heaps further misery on home supporters who have become increasingly disillusioned by The Foxes' Championship struggles.

Joey Gudjonsson shot wide and a heavy touch from McVeigh prevented Norwich from perhaps claiming an early lead as both sides jockeyed for position.

Ryan Smith should have given the hosts the lead but stabbed wide of the target from six yards while Rab Douglas saved well from Darren Huckerby as the first half drew to a close.

Gudjonsson and McVeigh again threatened but it was the Norwich man who eventually broke the deadlock in the 71st minute.

The Northern Irish international seized on Dickson Etuhu's through ball and beat Douglas in comprehensive fashion from 18 yards.

There was still time for Dean Ashton to smash a shot against the crossbar but by then The Canaries had done enough to claim all three points.
