Millwall claimed a much-needed win to move off the bottom of The Championship as they came from behind to defeat fellow strugglers Brighton 2-1 with goals from Ben May and Josh Simpson.

Things had looked rosy for the hosts when Dean Hammond had headed in Alexandre Frutos's free kick after just three minutes.

Hammond had another headed opportunity which he failed to take full advantage of as the hosts dominated the early proceedings.

But this was very much a game of two halves as David Tuttle made three substitutions at the interval, sending his side out with renewed vigour.

And it took just two minutes for the visitors to earn their reward. Alan Dunne charged down the right and crossed for May who finished past Michel Kuipers from six yards.

Remarkably the visitors were in the lead just three minutes later when Brighton failed to clear Jody Morris's cross. Substitute Simpson turned and fired home for his first goal of the season.

Simpson could even have grabbed a second before the hosts missed a glorious chance to level the match five minutes from time through substitute Leon Knight who blasted high over the crossbar.
