Crystal Palace ended the match with nine men but still took all three points with a 2-0 win at Ipswich.

The Eagles came flying out the traps and Andrew Johnson saw a header go wide after just 19 seconds and Ben Watson then drew a good save from Lewis Price with a 20-yard free-kick.

Jonathan Macken put the visitors ahead after 14 minutes when he met a cross from Johnson and Price was left with no chance as the striker found the top corner with a rasping shot.

The goal stung the hosts into life and Gabor Kiraly was finally put to work in the Palace goal, keeping out efforts from Fabian Wilnis and twice from Darren Currie.

Johnson could have doubled the lead as the half drew to a close but shortly after the hour-mark, Palace claimed a two-goal cushion when Michael Hughes cracked a vicious left-foot shot from 35 yards into the top corner.

Macken was the first to see red after 76 minutes when he got involved with Owen Garvan and Watson followed him down the tunnel shortly afterwards for a foul on Dean McDonald - his second bookable offence.

Joe Royle's side almost pulled one back when Daniel Haynes forced a fine save from Kiraly as Palace moved up to seventh in the table.
