Andy Davies scored either side of the break to give Derby a 2-0 win over Norwich.

County almost took the lead with 15 minutes on the clock when Robert Green failed to deal with a Adam Drury shot before being let off the hook by Dexter Blackstock, who picked up the rebound and hit a weak effort straight at the England man.

The deadlock was broken in the 28th minute when Lewin Nyatanga's header was blocked, allowing Davies to turn before slamming his shot home from close range.

Norwich tried to up the tempo in search of an equaliser and saw a Peter Thorne header cleared off the line, while Calum Davenport planted a free header just wide of the left-hand upright.

Davies bagged his second of the game on 52 minutes when Inigo Idiakez delivered a pin-point cross onto the head of the Middlesbrough youngster, who made no mistake as he headed home from point-blank range.

The second goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of The Canaries as they struggled to create any chances. Ian Henderson sent a shot wide and Dean Ashton was as industrious as ever but to no avail.

The result will heap more pressure on City manager Nigel Worthington as the game ended with the travelling supporters chanting "We want Worthy out" after they had seen their team slump to their eighth defeat of the season.
