Second half goals from David Nugent and Callum Davidson gave Preston a 2-0 win over QPR at Loftus Road - Rangers' fourth consecutive defeat.

Nugent stepped off the bench to set North End on their way to a ninth game without defeat, before Davidson settled matters five minutes from time, although both goals owed much to defensive mistakes.

The visitors went ahead in the 58th minute when Lloyd Dyer failed to cut out Graham Alexander's ball down the right and Patrick Agyemang crossed for Nugent, on just moments earlier for Adam Nowland, to score from close range.

Davidson then capitalised on a dreadful error by Marcus Bignot before beating Simon Royce with a low shot to wrap up the points.

Rangers, badly affected by injuries as well as their loss of form, looked bright early on and Carlo Nash had to save well from Lee Cook in the third minute.

Cook then saw a shot deflect off team-mate Shabbaz Baidoo, with Nash again reacting well to make the save on his line.

Baidoo had a goal ruled out for handball and forced Nash into another good save with a low shot from the edge of the area, but the Hoops faded after the break as Preston took control.
