Stoke secured their second derby win over Crewe in a month as they won 2-1 at Gresty Road.

The Potters had beaten their near neighbours 2-0 last month and they got the better of them once again thanks to goals from Sambegou Bangoura and Paul Gallagher.

Eddie Johnson pulled a goal back for Crewe in injury time, but Stoke held on for their third successive Championship win.

Bangoura had opened his account for City in their 2-0 win over the Alex, and boosted his reputation with two fine goals against Brighton a fortnight ago.

And it was the Guinea international, Stoke's £950,000 record signing, who got the first goal in the 16th minute when he turned Dave Brammer's pass beyond Ben Williams.

Michael Higdon hit the post for the home side shortly afterwards and Steve Simonsen was forced to touch wide a Kenny Lunt free kick.

Bangoura saw a header turned wide by Williams early in the second half before Steve Jones shot over when he had a glorious chance to level.

Gallagher looked to have made the points safe for Stoke when he doubled their advantage in the 89th minute, but they had to survive some anxious moments after Johnson's injury time strike.
