Shuker: Clinched victory
Tranmere climbed into the top six of League One after beating basement boys Crewe 2-0 to record a third win in seven days.
Steven Jennings broke the deadlock in the 51st minute before Chris Shuker sealed victory 16 minutes from time.
And to rub salt into Crewe's wounds, defender Billy Jones was sent off three minutes from time for a professional foul on Bas Savage.
The visitors had battled bravely but went behind six minutes after the restart, with Jennings having an easy tap-in from a Shuker cross after a mistake by Byron Moore.
It needed an excellent block by Crewe goalkeeper Steve Collis to deny Ian Moore a second goal for Tranmere after 65 minutes.
But the home side doubled their advantage in the 74th minute when Shuker collected an Ian Goodison clearance near the half-way line and raced through to beat Collis with an angled shot.
It got worse for the visitors when Jones was dismissed in the 87th minute for bringing down Savage inches outside the box.
