Reading and Leeds United drew 1-1 at The Madejski Stadium as both sides chase promotion.

David Healy came off the bench to salvage a point for Leeds after Brynjar Gunnarson handed Reading a 63rd minute lead.

After Glen Little thumped an early shot wide, Ivar Ingimarsson shot over the top as The Royals started brightly.

Leeds responded with Rob Hulse looking a threat but Marcus Hahnemann was equal to everything thrown at him, including denying Robbie Blake.

Bobby Convey was frustrated by Neil Sullivan and Dave Kitson went close, before Kevin Doyle again brought the best out of Sullivan.

The breakthrough arrived when Convey's corner was only partially cleared by Paul Butler and Gunnarsson profited with a firm finish into the Leeds net.

Healy replaced Blake and added impetus to the visitors' attack, forcing Hahnemann into making a wonderful stop.

Jonathan Douglas had a couple of openings but it always looked like Healy was the biggest threat to the home side and his fifth league goal of the campaign hauled the Yorkshiremen level.

Both keepers made eye-catching late saves to maintain parity in the scoreline as Sullivan beat out a Kitson shot and Hahnemann thwarted Douglas.
