Leicester City put their promotion push back on an even keel after a 2-0 win over struggling Sheffield Wednesday.

Mark de Vries grabbed both goals for The Foxes, who had the match wrapped up inside the first 15 minutes.

Former Hearts striker de Vries pounced for his first goal on 10 minutes when he converted Alan Maybury's cross at the far post.

Just two minutes later and de Vries nicked his second of the game when he turned in Elvis Hammond's mis-cued volley.

David Lucas then made a good save from Hammond before The Owls came into the game, with Lee Peacock forcing a brilliant stop out of Rab Douglas.

In the second half, the visitors cursed their luck when David Graham burst through and beat Douglas with his shot, only for the post to get in the way.

Leicester midfielder Stephen Hughes shot over the bar and then headed wide as Craig Levein's men looked to put a seal on the game.

Douglas made another stunning save to deny Peacock before Leicester debutant Iain Hume shot just wide in the closing stages.
