Watford continue to make hay while there is still a glimmer of sunshine after a convincing 3-0 win at Stoke City.

Paul Devlin, Ashley Young and Marlon King were The Hornets' scorers as Stoke had goalkeeper Steve Simonsen sent off.

King and Mamady Sidibe traded early shots before Watford took the lead on 24 minutes when Devlin headed in Anthony McNamee's cross.

Stoke quickly offered a riposte and were unlucky not to be level on 27 minutes when Lewis Buxton's effort rattled the frame of the goal.

Ben Foster produced an athletic save to deny Stoke's Gabriel Mbuyi before the break, and then Sidibe turned a cross over the bar in the second half.

The Hornets snared a second goal on 65 minutes, courtesy of a curling effort from Young, and Stoke were down to 10 men two minutes later.

Simonsen brought down Young in the penalty area and was promptly sent off, with King converting the resultant spot kick to wrap up the win.
