Davies strikes for Hatters

Luton Town maintained their impressive start to the Championship season with a 2-1 win over struggling Millwall.

Coveted defender Curtis Davies grabbed the winner at Kenilworth Road, after Ben May had cancelled out Warren Feeney's opener for the hosts.

The early pressure came from Mike Newell's side as Kevin Nicholls shot wide and Steve Robinson fired over.

The Hatters made the breakthrough on 12 minutes when Feeney controlled a cross from Paul Underwood and lashed home from the edge of the area.

Millwall gradually crept into the contest and could have been level before the beak when Paul Robinson headed Jamie Vincent's corner over the bar.

Almost immediately after the interval, The Lions did equalise as the in-form May finished clinically into the corner of the net.

Luton responded to conceding the goal by forcing Millwall keeper Andy Marshall into action as he twice saved from Steve Robinson - the second a fantastic stop from a header

But Luton were not to be denied and they resumed their position at the head of The Championship when Davies scored with 12 minutes remaining after converting a cross from Nicholls.
