The defeat took the Robins' league run without a win to seven matches, while the Shrimpers made it five wins from six games.
Steve Tilson's side took the lead when Jean-Francois Christophe fed Kevin Betsy on the right wing and his cross was headed home by Revell from six yards.
Swindon got back on terms just after the hour when Michael Timlin's cross from the left was headed back across goal by Simon Cox at the back post.
Billy Paynter headed home from six yards but it came at a price as he injured himself in the process.
Tilson brought on Laurent for the injured Revell and three minutes later the French striker scored his first of the season with a headed goal from 12 yards from Peter Clarke's right-wing cross.
