Reading slipped out of the play-off places after being beaten 2-1 at home by Wolves.

West Ham's defeat on Friday handed the initiative to The Royals, but they were undone by a Wolves side who showed real spirit at The Madejski Stadium.

Reading took the lead on eight minutes as Nicky Forster showed great skill to volley past Michael Oakes.

Wolves almost fashioned an immediate response, but Marcus Hahnemann saved well from Rohan Ricketts.

Kenny Miller and Colin Cameron then saw shots saved by the American keeper, while Seol Ki-hyeon and Seyi Olofinjana went close before the break.

Wolves pressed on after the break and their persistence was rewarded on 53 minutes as Leon Clarke's header from a corner took a wicked deflection beyond Hahnemann.

Dave Kitson went close to putting Reading back in front with a header which flew just over the bar, but they were undone six minutes from time as Ricketts cut inside his marker before coolly slotting home to seal the three points for the visitors.
