Seagulls fight for point

Brighton failed to climb out of the relegation spots as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Leicester.

The Seagulls trailed for long periods to a David Connolly penalty, but rescued a point when Paul Reid levelled ten minutes from time.

Brighton came into the game on the back of a poor run, but they started brightly and Ian Walker had to be alert to push away a Charlie Oatway header.

Leicester took time to claim a foothold in the game, although Alan Blayney had to make good saves from Patrick McCarthy and Connolly.

The Foxes took the lead in controversial circumstances on 34 minutes, as Leicester were awarded a penalty for handball and Connolly made no mistake from the spot.

Leicester were rocked onto their heels just after the interval as Stephen Hughes was sent off for a second booking.

Brighton saw Mark McCammon miss a simple chance just after the hour, as they attempted to take advantage of their numerical superiority, but they found a way past Walker ten minutes from time when Reid hammered home to hand the struggling Seagulls a point.
