Martin Rowlands scored the only goal of the game to earn Queens Park Rangers a 1-0 win at relegation-haunted Rotherham United.

The South Yorkshire side look doomed and plunged to another defeat courtesy of Rowlands's third goal of the season.

The midfielder latched onto Marcus Bignot's through ball and managed to maintain control of the ball despite Mike Pollitt attempting to smother the opportunity. Once the former Brentford man had managed to successfully navigate the situation, he moved closer to goal and tapped into an inviting net.

QPR's play-off aspirations remain intact after the victory while Rotherham are rooted at the foot of the table.

Shaun Barker headed a first half opportunity over the bar for The Millers but there were few clear-cut chances.

Indeed, some of the play was rather scrappy and, at times, brutal with six yellow cards being shown.

Once ahead, QPR did try and kill the game off but Paul Furlong and Rowlands were denied by Pollitt, although it mattered little to the overall result as Ian Holloway's side continue to impress.
