Miller penalty seals win

A Tommy Miller penalty was enough to give nervous Ipswich a 1-0 win against Cardiff at Ninian Park.

The race for the automatic promotion slots is really hotting up, and Ipswich have found themselves outside of the top two for the first time.

However, they grabbed a crucial win against hard-working Cardiff.

Cardiff started strongly and both Lee Bullock and Richard Langley went close before Neil Alexander's palms were warmed by a Darren Bent effort at the other end.

Fabian Wilnis had the first chance after the break but found his shot deflected to Alexander, and Currie was unlucky with a volley, as Ipswich pressed for a winner.

The crucial penalty was awarded after Miller turned superbly past Gabbidon and was brought down by the Wales international.

Miller got up to take the penalty himself and made no mistake, lashing home his 12th goal of the season.

Kelvin Davis made a good save to deny Jobi McAnuff and keep Ipswich ahead - sealing a crucial win in the promotion chase.
