Sheffield Wednesday climbed into third in League One following a 2-0 South Yorkshire derby win over Doncaster Rovers.

Rovers went into the contest looking to exact revenge for a heavy home defeat but were unable to peg back The Owls.

The score looked like being level at the break, but Lee Bullen connected with John-Paul McGovern's cross to head past the helpless Andy Warrington.

The goal gave the home side a massive lift, however Paul Sturrock's side were unable to finish off the contest.

After 78 minutes the killer goal arrived when substitute Andrew Talbot netted to end Rovers' resistance.

The win takes Wednesday into third in the table with a chance of catching second placed Hull City.
