Crewe ended a run of four straight defeats on Saturday, but a home draw with basement boys Rotherham will be little comfort for manager Dario Gradi.

Shorn of now Norwich striker Dean Ashton, Crewe looked short of firepower and only a late strike from Andy White rescued a point after John Mullin had put The Millers in the ascendancy.

Mullin went close from 25 yards before opening his account on 33 minutes.

A series of corners forced Rotherham on the front foot and Mullin made the pressure tell when he stabbed home from close range after Paul Warne had flicked the ball into his path.

Rotherham came close to doubling their lead just after the break, but Clayton Ince produced a fine save from Jamal Campbell-Ryce.

Mike Pollit was forced to earn his wages in the Rotherham goal, saving well from Neil Sorvell and Chris McGready, but he was beaten ten minutes from time when White bundled home from close range following a scramble.
