Connolly spot on for City

David Connolly scored from the penalty spot to give Leicester a 1-0 win over QPR at The Walkers Stadium.

Connolly struck after just nine minutes to settle the match and condemn Rangers to an eighth consecutive defeat away from home.

Referee Phil Dowd ruled that Dan Shittu had handled in the penalty area and Connolly beat Chris Day from the spot for just his fourth league goal of the season.

Leicester grew in confidence after their early goal and continued to dominate, with Connolly again and Lilian Nalis both going close to doubling their advantage.

Jordan Stewart also tested Day with a header before Paul Furlong had Rangers' first chance, but shot straight at Stuart Taylor.

Taylor was forced into action again when he parried a fierce strike from Georges Santos, before Day made a similar stop to deny substitute Joey Gudjonsson.

Connolly and Stewart both shot off target as Leicester missed chances to kill the game off, but Ian Holloway's side could not make them pay, as Furlong and Shittu both fired wide late on.
