      Bishop on target against Hatters

In-form Bury moved into the next stage of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy as Andy Bishop's late strike saw off Stockport 1-0. There were plenty of chances at either end in the first half, but no goals. Stockport started brightly and Anthony Pilkington saw a shot saved by Wayne Brown, then Stephen Gleeson powered in a strike which flew inches over the crossbar. The hosts rallied and had a few chances of their own in the run-up to half-time, as danger-man Bishop wriggled free of his marker before firing a low shot narrowly wide, then Stockport's debutant 'keeper Fraser Forster produced a smart save to deny Richie Baker. Stockport's Gary Dicker and Bury striker Bishop swapped chances early in the second half, but Bishop wasn't to be denied on 76 minutes when he rose superbly to head home Michael Jones' out-swinging cross. Tommy Rowe fired over Stockport's best chance of a late equaliser.
