Sunderland go into their clash against Brighton hoping to keep their recent upsurge in form going.

The Black Cats have picked up eight points in the last four games - and will be bidding to go through October unbeaten.

Brighton will be without key man Adam Virgo - who has been vital to Albion as a stand-in striker. Virgo is suspended for the game, and is likely to be replaced by Gary Hart.

Danny Cullip has shaken off an injury to be in contention and both Alexis Nicolas and Charlie Oatway are also ready.

Sunderland are still without goalkeeper Mart Poom, and the game has come too soon for Matt Piper, who has only just returned to training.

Kevin Kyle and George McCartney are still ruled out by injury for Mick McCarthy's side.
