Fiorentina finished their Serie A campaign on a five-game winning streak after beating 10-man Chievo 3-0 on Sunday evening.

The triumph capped an impressive campaign for the Tuscan outfit, who leapfrogged Napoli into a fourth-place.

Josip Ilicic put the Viola on their way with their opening goal in the 12th minute.

After Chievo's Sergio Pellissier hit a left-footed shot off the post in the 61st minute, the visitors lost midfielder Isaac Cofie to a second yellow card.

Fiorentina took advantage of their numerical superiority with substitute Federico Bernardeschi adding a second goal in the 76th minute before Milan Badelj made it 3-0 deep into stoppage time.

Vincenzo Montella's team climbed above Napoli - who lost 4-2 at home to Lazio - as they condemned Chievo to a four-match winless run to finish 14th in the table with 43 points.

Fiorentina reached the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia and were in the last four of the Europa League, a competition they will play in next season.

The hosts dominated early on and went ahead when Mohamed Salah set up Ilicic in the box and his right-footed shot from 12 yards beat Chievo goalkeeper Albano Bizarri.

Fiorentina almost doubled their lead when Gonzalo Rodriguez got his head to Ilicic's cross but his effort was kept out by Bizarri.

The Viola wasted a good chance to make it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time when a fast break saw Alberto Gilardino serve Bernardeschi in the box, but his left-footed attempt went just wide of the near post.

Ilicic came closest three minutes after the re-start but his left-footed attempt towards the near post was saved by Bizarri.

Chievo almost pulled level one minute later but Ruben Botta's stinging drive from 20 yards was kept out by Fiorentina goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu.

In the 56th minute, Tatarusanu denied Chievo an equaliser when he pulled off a great save from Pellissier's shot that took a deflection off a Fiorentina player.

Pellissier then saw his 12-yard effort hit the right post with Tatarusanu already beaten.

In the 69th minute, Cofie went in for a late challenge against Ilicic and picked up second yellow card to leave the Flying Donkeys with just 10 men.

Fiorentina went forward and were rewarded when Bizarri could not hold onto Mati Fernandez's bullet strike as Bernardeschi struck the rebound into the back of the net.

With seconds remaining, Badelj drilled a left-footed strike towards the far post and out of Bizarri's reach for the hosts' third goal of the night.

The Fiorentina players celebrated after the final whistle by throwing coach Montella up in the air.
