Inter Milan left the San Siro to a deafening chorus of boos from the home fans after they were held to a 1-1 draw by rock-bottom Parma on Saturday.

Fredy Guarin gave Inter the lead in the 25th minute, but Andi Lila levelled just before half-time.

The Nerazzurri failed to find a winner in the second half, seeing their diminishing hopes of playing in Europe next season suffer another setback as Parma picked up only their tenth point of the season.

Although Parma's relegation to Serie B is as good as sealed following their bankruptcy, they are not going out with a whimper, continuing to fight for every points.

Inter appeared to expect the opposite and their leisurely stroll around the San Siro pitch in the opening 20 minutes was never going to be enough to cause the visitors too many problems, and the fans soon started to show their dissatisfaction.

The Nerazzurri still managed to take the lead in the 25th minute when Guarin's shot from 25 yards took a wicked deflection off Jose Mauri on its way past the wrong-footed Antonio Mirante.

The goal was not fooling anybody, though, as Parma continued to look more than a match for their hosts, deservedly equalising before half-time.

Silvestre Varela's cross was met by Lila's header from eight yards, the Albanian guided the ball into the top left-hand corner, beyond the reach of Samir Handanovic.

As a result, Inter's players went in at the interval to the whistles of the home fans, who had expected much more from their team.

It did not get much better in the early stages of the second half for Roberto Mancini's men with Parma actually starting to gain the upper hand and pose a greater threat.

Massimo Gobbi set up Varela for a shot which was blocked by Marcelo Brozovic before Inter finally woke up.

Rodrigo Palacio sent a shot wide with Lukas Podolski sent on by Mancini as a fourth forward for a final 20 minutes which saw Parma defending with everything they had.

For a team who have not been paid since July, they put on a brave showing, although questions will have to be asked of an Inter side who have provided four of Parma's 10 points this season.
