Germany's World Cup winner Christoph Kramer sprang from the bench to earn Borussia Monchengladbach a point at home to Stuttgart on Sunday.
Alexandru Maxim had given Stuttgart the lead somewhat against the run of play, but Kramer remedied that in the last minute of the game to earn his side a point by claiming a 1-1 draw.
The hosts also had a goal disallowed and hit the woodwork with Stuttgart probably happier with the point on Armin Veh's return to the club.
Veh said on the eve of the game that Gladbach were something of a role model for his side, given the way they had established themselves as a regular challenger for European football in recent seasons.
His side did not just stand and take note, though, and they thought they had taken the lead after half an hour when Vedad Ibisevic found the back of the net, but the Bosnian was adjudged to have fouled Tony Jantschke and the goal did not stand.
Gladbach then showed signs of improvement with former Stuttgart full-back Ibrahima Traore getting forward frequently down the wing, and one of his crosses was headed by Raffael over the crossbar.
The game changed over the course of three second-half minutes with Gladbach wasting their next glorious opportunity, and Stuttgart punishing them.
Branimir Hrgota first missed a chance he will have nightmares about with the goal gaping before Christian Gentner sent the ball through for Maxim to show Hrgota how it is done from a tight angle.
Hrgota tried to make amends and he thought he had done so midway through the second half, but this time he was denied a goal due to offside.
Gladbach coach Lucien Favre responded by sending Kramer and Thorgan Hazard on, and the latter nearly made a dream debut, finding the outside of the post with 15 minutes to go.
It was to be the other substitute who salvaged Gladbach a point, though.
The World Cup winner was looming in the edge of the penalty area to receive Alvaro Dominguez's pass and place his shot accurately into the bottom corner.
