Bradford substitute Aaron Mclean scored a controversial late goal to earn his side a 1-0 Capital One Cup win at Morecambe.

Mclean scored an 82nd-minute goal to give the 2013 finalists Bradford a tight first-round victory at the Globe Arena.

Substitute Mclean scored at the third attempt eight minutes from time after he bundled over the ball from close range with Morecambe players convinced he put the ball over the line with his hand.

    Morecambe 0 Bradford 1 - Highlights

Bradford started the brighter and came closest to opening the scoring when James Hanson's 43rd-minute header was cleared off the goal-line by home skipper Mark Hughes.

Hanson also saw an effort superbly blocked by Morecambe defender Andy Parrish as the Bantams had the better of the first half.

The Shrimps looked the more likely team to break the deadlock in the second half, with Kevin Ellison wasting two glorious chances to score against his former club.

He fired over from the edge of the area and headed Andy Wright's cross wide from eight yards. Morecambe's Paul Mullin then blazed over from the edge of the area and the home side were made to pay when Mclean popped up in the box to score the vital winner.
